Website Update

I don't know if I'm going to continue with the website. It's a lot of work to keep the blog and website updated, while keeping up with school and a part-time job. If there is a way for me to close the website, I might do it. The blog isn't going anywhere, though. Stay tuned.

Classic Rock Weekly: Top 5 Bands of the 70s

1. Aerosmith

Aerosmith started out like any other band. Playing the clubs and got signed by a record label. But, unlike any other band at the time, Aerosmith had a certain attitude that set them apart from the others. I don't know if it's Steven Tyler's vocal powerhouse or Joe Perry's God-like riffs, but these guys have been kicking ass for over 40 years now.

2. AC/DC

Considered by many the greatest rock band there ever was, AC/DC definitely made their mark on 70s rock. With songs such as T.N.T, Let There Be Rock, and (the highly controversial) Highway To Hell, AC/DC shocked the music world with the heaviest sounding music since Black Sabbath.

3. Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin actually formed in 1968, but it wasn't until the 70s that they really started to gain popularity. With the release of Stairway To Heaven in 1971, Zeppelin claimed their spot as one of the greatest rock bands of the 70s and all-time. However, it wasn't just Stairway that made Led Zeppelin superstars. There were other songs such as Black Dog and Communication Breakdown. Those songs were very underrated. Led Zeppelin is one of the most badass rock bands I have ever heard.

4. Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is considered kind of "out there" by some people. But that doesn't mean they didn't kick ass. After lead singer Syd Barrett was kicked out of the band, bassist Roger Waters took over for Barrett as lead vocalist. In 1979, they released the legendary album, The Wall. Pink Floyd is clearly one of the best bands of the 1970s.

5. Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath is widely considered the pioneers of heavy metal. They produced music that nobody had heard before. Their 1970s success produced hits such as Paranoid and Iron Man. Their success continued until 1980, when Ozzy was kicked out of the band because of drug use.

Keep it up, guys!

400 Pagviews! Again, not a lot compared to others, but still. Thanks for reading and ROCK ON! \m/

IMPORTANT INFORMATION I FORGOT WHEN IT STARTED THIS BLOG

Although this blog focuses on classic rock bands from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, it will also follow classic rock bands today. So instead of focusing on Aerosmith from back in the day, we'll also give you news on Aerosmith. Slash quit GN'R in 1996. That doesn't mean he is irrelevant. He's got a whole solo project going on. We're gonna focus on things like that. I keep running out of material, so I'm gonna provide news updates and stuff on still-active classic rock bands.

Classic Rock Weekly: Rockstars that have been destroyed by Drugs

Everyone does things they regret. But it seems like some of these rockstars who had the "live fast and die young" mentality have destroyed themselves with drugs. I'm not talking smoking or drinking. No, I'm talking about the hard drugs (heroine, meth, etc.) Here's some rockstars who have been destroyed by drugs.

1. Keith Richards- Rolling Stones

If we were to make a list of drugs this guy hasn't done, there would be very few. Keith Richards is undeniably one of the best guitarists ever, but he really did mess himself up. He's only 70 and he looks like he's 85. Some people age faster, but in Keith's case, it was the drugs.

2. Steven Adler- Guns N' Roses

From 1986-1990, Steven Adler was the drummer for Guns N' Roses. Drugs and drinking ultimately led to him being kicked out of the band. He was so messed up by heroine at the time that he couldn't lay down his drum tracks. He had a stroke and now his speech is permanently slurred.

3. Ozzy Osbourne- Black Sabbath

Ozzy is probably the most well-known rockstar who was destroyed by drugs. Ozzy's drug use caused him to be kicked out of Black Sabbath. His drug use increased when Randy Rhoads died in a plane crash. It's amazing that this guy's still going.

4. Jimi Hendrix

Do I even need to say anything? Hendrix was one of the greatest guitarists to ever live, but he was literally destroyed by drugs. He died at 27. Just imagine how famous Hendrix would be had he not died at 27. Not to mention the music that could have been made.

Here's a list of rockstars who did drugs but weren't messed up by them.

Eric Clapton
Slash
Jimmy Page
Iggy Pop

That's all I got for you. Later. \m/
