No More Heroes by Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators

We all know who Slash is. If you don't know who Slash is, click here. Throughout his career, Slash has released albums with Guns N' Roses (obviously), Velvet Revolver, and two solo albums. In 2012, Slash released his second solo album, Apocalyptic Love. The song No More Heroes doesn't sound like Slash's regular bluesy style. It's more of a computerized type sound on the intro. I'm probably gonna get criticism for that last sentence, but whatever. It's not Slash's regular bluesy style, but it's a rockin' song nonetheless.

Black Dog by Led Zeppelin

Even though it's in the large shadow of Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog is a great track. I learned to play some of it on my guitar and it's not as easy to play as it sounds. I kept getting lost because there's a lot of bends and your hands are all over the fretboard. Once you learn it though, it's really easy and fun to play. Sorry if I got off track there. But even though this song isn't the song Led Zeppelin is remembered for, it's a great track.

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

Is there anybody out there? There is? Good. Then stay a while and check out today's SONG OF THE DAY. Today's song is Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. One of the many great tracks from the legendary album, The Wall. Released as a single in 1980, Comfortably Numb is one of Pink Floyd's most popular songs. I don't know if it's just me, but this song sounds like it's about drugs. But being the person I am, I didn't jump to that conclusion. After doing some research, I found out that Roger Waters said it was about when he was very sick as a kid. He told Mojo Magazine in 2009: "When I was a child I had a fever/My hands felt just like two balloons. I remember having the flu or something, an infection with a temperature of 105 and being delirious. It wasn't like the hands looked like balloons, but they looked way too big, frightening. A lot of people think those lines are about masturbation. God knows why." The lyrics are interpreted in a lot of different ways. But on to a more serious issue... Those guitar solos.

They sound so relaxing yet so powerful at the same time. Especially that second one. It just kind of makes you numb (pun intended) to everything else for those last two minutes.

That concludes today's SONG OF THE DAY. Check back tomorrow for a new SONG OF THE DAY.

Dream On by Aerosmith

Released on June 27, 1973, Dream On is one of Aerosmith's most well known songs. It was written by lead singer Steven Tyler. Upon its release, it peaked at #59 on the charts. It stands out among other Aerosmith songs due to its style. Dream On is kind of a break from the funk-type riffs on songs like Cryin' and Walk this Way

During a 2011 interview, lead singer Steven Tyler says that he recalls lying under his dad's piano when he was 3 years old and listening to his dad play classical music. He said "That's where I got that Dream On chordage." Funny how people can turn that stuff into a song, isn't it?

Nevertheless, this is an amazing song from an amazing band. That opening riff from Joe Perry almost sounds heavenly. And how can we forget Steven Tyler almost screaming "Dream on, dream on." Dream On is an amazing and very powerful song. No wonder these guys have so many fans.
